Dang

It has been a long time!

I'm not so good at keeping up with stuff. But what can you do?
Here is some stuff from the past week!

Chips and Cheese! We got these on Burns Night (last Sunday) after going to the pub to get some celebratory beers. We thought there would be stuff everywhere but it just ended up being a quiet, but fun, night. These were really amazing. They had vinegar and salt on them and mmmmmmm.
We also had chips and cheese last Friday after Nice and Sleazy where we went to meet Linda's friend, and danced all night until 3:30 in the morning. Best time ever. So I guess we really got them on Saturday. Technicalities.

This is Kelvingrove Park. I took a walk there on, I want to say, Tuesday maybe... Anyway, it was raining, cold, and windy. I thought it was a nice walk, and the park was mostly empty.

Crazy and weird how much those photos look like mirrors of each other. Maybe that's just me. The first is the walkway through the park. The second is the River Clyde.

The giant puddle in the middle of the park. I had a hard time not jumping in but I had my classy lady shoes on and that would have been awful.

I don't think this accomplished what I was going for. Stupid trees. Anyway, play ground with U of Glasgow in the background.

This week kicked me in the face. I feel like I worked a lot, but also that I didn't do enough.

I don't know if I have blogged about the way courses work here, but its pretty daunting at first. In most cases, as in my courses, you have three lectures a week. These lectures are not mandatory, so you can choose whether you want to go or not, and nobody will know the difference. I hear that exams are MUCH easier if you go though, so I haven't missed one yet!

Then in addition to lectures, you have a mandatory seminar/tutorial. These are smaller groups with a tutor, and you must do the reading for the week and then be able to participate. In my lit class I have two of these tutorials! That means 5 class times a week.

Anyway, this week I had my first Scottish History tutorial, and for some reason I have been TERRIFIED of this class. I did ok today though, and I read all the primary sources and three of the suplementary ones. This took about 5 hours. Uggggh. My saving grace is that literature goes really quickly for me, and I can annotate a poem with some pretty good stuff in about 10 minutes, then look at it more once I get to tutorial. Otherwise I would be doing about 4 hours of homework a day. I don't really want to do that.

Nothing really crazy happened this week. It has been, of course, a lot of fun, but nothing really extraordinary. I am also horrible at taking pictures, so even if something did happen, I have no record of it.

Why is CharLee blogging instead of being out this fine Friday night? I don't really know the answer to that actually. I should be out. What the hell?
Truth is, I am in a food coma. Tonight we made Mexican food, nachos and guacamole and rice and enchiladas and chocolate-peanut butter birthday cake. Oh man, so good. I made the enchiladas good and greasy.

I am now going to assess the Friday night situation, so I leave you with an image of THIS cupcake! I got it yesterday. It was no where near as good as The Shoppe, because you know that is my most favorite place of all time, but it is SPARKLY! That's right. Just look close. It has sparkles.

  1. For winter it is quite green there. I thought it would be starker. Loved the cupcake. Sometimes Friday nights are good to just chill.
